Major change as LIV Golf locks in Adelaide return

By Ollie Haig
Adelaide will once again host LIV Golf next year, although there’ll be one major change from previous editions when the event hits South Australia in 2025.
The state government today confirmed the tournament, which previously took place in April, will now be held in mid-February, in a bid to avoid potential scheduling conflicts with the US Masters.
Premier Peter Malinauskas had been concerned about the possibility of the tournament being pushed into May.

“Do we really want to chance our arm with cold weather or even rainy weather during the month of May?” he said.
By opting for a mid-February slot, the organisers hope to attract more spectators than last year’s 94,000.
“We clearly want efforts to expand the number of people that are attending,” tournament director Nick Haslam said.

“We’re still working on what that looks like, but we want the tournament to be bigger and better every year.”
An independent study of this year’s event found it injected $71 million into the state economy, a 10 per cent jump on the 2023 tournament.
Malinauskas also revealed negotiations are underway to secure a longer-term deal for the event to stay in Adelaide beyond the current contract which ends in 2026.
